wine notes and musings of a wine nerd
Welcome to Wineducation
With over a decade in the wine industry in sales, marketing, vineyards and winemaking, and many more years as a verified ‘wine nerd’, I established this site to share my musings and insights with an insiders view to answering questions about wine. And not just any common wine 101.
These are mostly stories and review styles that I had hoped to find, that weren’t in the standard books and not common knowledge for those outside of the industry.
I am Mitch, the Wineducation author.
It is easy to get bitten by the wine bug. It is incredible to think that a simple drink of decaying grapes can have such an impact on society.
As a subject it branches into history, geology, geography, chemistry, anthropology, sociology, physics, agriculture, biology, engineering, languages and art. It has been a sign of civilisation for humans as much as building houses, clothing and cooking.
As such, there is a lot written about it, but not all of it to the point, or interesting, or easily deciphered.
That is where my Wineducation blog aims to fill a gap.
I hope you find some questions answered, and also find some inspiration to start finding your own way down the rabbit hole of wine education. I look forward to sharing the journey with you.

Winemaking is an art that begins with the careful selection and harvesting of grapes. After crushing, the juice undergoes fermentation, where yeast transforms sugars into alcohol. Aging and maturation enhance flavours and aromas, leading to the creation of exquisite wines that captivate the senses.
